AO Platanias ( Greek Αθλητικός 'Ομιλος Πλατανιά Χανίων , Sports Club Platanias) is a football club from Platanias , Crete , which plays in the highest Greek league . The association was founded in 1931. The club qualified in the 2008/09 season in the Delta Ethniki (4th division) for promotion. A year later, he was promoted to the second-rate Football League . There, in the 2011/12 season, a sensational move into the top Greek league, the Super League, was achieved in the playoffs . Thus, the club managed a total of three promotions in just four seasons. The club played in the top league until the end of the 2017/2018 season, relegation could not be prevented in summer 2018, and since then the club has played in the country's second division, the Football League .
