Panetolikos ( Greek Παναιτωλικός ) is a football club from the western Greek city of Agrinio , 50 km north of Patras . The club colors are yellow and blue. The club plays its home games in the Panetolikos Stadium on Prousiotissi Street.
history
The association was founded in 1926. In 1975, Panetolikos rose as champions of the second division for the first time in the first Greek division . In 2011, as the second division champion, after many years in the lower classes, the club again succeeded in advancing to the first division , but in the 2011/12 season the club went straight back to the second-class Football League . In the 2012/13 season, he was promoted to the Super League via the playoffs.
The club's best-known current player is former Bundesliga professional Angelos Charisteas , who moved from FC Schalke 04 to Agrinio for the 2011/12 season. Giorgos Theodoridis , who grew up in Frankfurt am Main, also plays at the club .
