The Super League 2017/18 was the 59th season of the highest Greek league in men's football and the 12th edition under the name Super League . As in the previous year, the championship was played with 16 teams. The play-off games that were played in the preseason were no longer played.
Relegated the previous season were Iraklis Thessaloniki and Veria FC , have risen Apollon Smyrnis and PAS Lamia .
The defending champion was Olympiacos Piraeus .
Season course
The season was interrupted by the Greek government on March 12, 2018 after the riots at the game PAOK Thessaloniki against AEK Athens the day before, where PAOK President Ivan Savvidis , among others , stormed onto the field with a pistol on his belt. On March 26, Alexis Kougias, spokesman for the league, announced the resumption of matchday 27 (March 31 to April 1).
After a decision at the green table , AEK Athens had been the champion again since 1994 on matchday 28, also benefiting from point deductions for competitors PAOK and Olympiakos . The traditional club Panathinaikos escaped the sporting descent despite the deduction of eight points in a desolate season.
