Sergio Ezequiel Araujo (born January 28, 1992 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine football player . The striker plays for AEK Athens .

Club career

Araujo first played in the Boca Juniors' offspring in his hometown . On December 13, 2009, he made his debut for the first team in the Primera División under coach Alfio Basile when he came on in the closing stages of the 2-0 win over CA Banfield for Nicolás Gaitán . Araujo then had difficulties getting used to professional football and only played in the reserve team for half a year. In the Apertura 2010 he first gained a foothold and made eight appearances, including against Arsenal , in which he managed the opening goal. In the Clausura 2011, Araujo only came on a short-term basis and in the Apertura 2011 he was scheduled to be the fourth attacker behind Lucas Viatri , Pablo Mouche and Nicolás Blandi .

In the summer break of 2012, FC Barcelona signed Araujo on loan and he played for a year in the second team in the second-rate Segunda División . He was then awarded to CA Tigre in Argentina for one season . After his return, he first moved to UD Las Palmas on loan , with whom he was promoted to the Primera División in the 2014/15 season and was firmly committed at the end of the season. From January 2017, Araujo was a loan player at AEK Athens in the Greek Super League for a year and a half . With Las Palmas he played second class again from the 2018/19 season . In January 2020, Araujo moved to AEK Athens on loan again.

National team career

Araujo played, among other things, in the U17 Argentina , for which he played the South American Championship in 2009. There he got three hits in five missions, with which he shot his team into the final. There Araujo missed the first penalty in the penalty shoot-out , which the Brazilians finally won. Despite the final defeat, the Albiceleste qualified for the U17 World Cup 2009 in Nigeria . In the preliminary round, Araujo scored the winning goal against Honduras and Germany , which is why Argentina made it to the round of 16 against Colombia. Araujo also scored a goal there, but Argentina had to admit defeat 2: 3 despite a 2-0 lead.

From 2011 to 2012 Araujo was part of the Argentine U20 squad and scored four goals in ten games.
