Marko Livaja (born August 26, 1993 in Split ) is a Croatian football player .

Club career

Livaja began his career in youth teams in various Croatian clubs. From Hajduk Split , a club in which Livaja was also in the professional squad, he moved abroad to Inter Milan , but was then loaned to the Swiss second division club FC Lugano .

Then Livaja moved to the Italian club AC Cesena , who held part of his transfer rights. There he made his Serie A debut as a substitute on October 16, 2011 against Fiorentina . He returned to Inter Milan in January 2012. At the Milanese he was first used in the Primavera, but also belonged to the professional squad of Inter in some games in the second half of the 2011/12 season (initially without use).

He made his competitive debut for Inter on August 2, 2012, when he was substituted on in the first leg of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round against his former club Hajduk Split. On September 20, 2012 he scored his first competitive goal for the Milanese against Rubin Kazan in a game in the Europa League group stage.

On January 31, 2013 it was announced that Atalanta Bergamo acquired part of the transfer rights to the young striker and that Livaja will appear for Atalanta in the second half of the 2012/13 season . At Atalanta, the striker scored his first two Serie A goals against AS Roma on February 24, 2013 , but also drew negative attention: In April 2013, he was temporarily suspended after a dispute with coach Stefano Colantuono . A few weeks later, in May 2013, Livaja was suspended again after beating his teammate Ivan Radovanović during a training session. Nevertheless, he stayed with Atalanta for the 2013/14 season, but moved to Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League for the 2014/15 season .

His brother Mirko , who is two years younger than him, is also a professional footballer.

National team

So far Livaja has played for various youth teams in Croatia and was able to score a total of 20 goals for them (as of May 30, 2012). Livaja participated in the qualifications for the U-17 European Championship 2009 , for the U-17 European Championship 2010 and for the U-19 European Championship 2012 .

With Croatia's U-20 selection , Livaja took part in the U-20 World Cup in 2013 and ran up there with Ante Rebić by storm. But he could not prevent his team from getting out of the round of 16.

In September 2018, he made his debut in a friendly against Portugal in the Croatian national team .
