Career

In the club

IFK Gothenburg

Johansson first played for IFK Göteborg in 2007 in Fotbollsallsvenskan and became champions in his first year. The club was thus qualified for the first qualifying round of the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League , where the team prevailed with two wins against the San-Marinese champions SS Murata . The end came in the second round against FC Basel , as after a 1-1 home game the second leg was lost 4-2. Johansson only sat on the bench in both games. In 2008 he won the trophy with IFK , a success that could be repeated in 2012/13. In 2008 it was only enough for third place in the league . As a cup winner, IFK was qualified for the third qualifying round for the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League , which started the season in a new format and replaced the previous UEFA Cup . Here the team lost the home game with 1: 3 against Hapoel Tel Aviv , with Johansson having a twenty-minute mission when he was substituted on for his team in the 70th minute when the score was 1-0. In the second leg, which ended 1: 1, he was not used. The following year he was runner-up with IFK and lost the cup final, but was thus qualified for the third qualifying round for the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League . Here they met AZ Alkmaar . After a 2-0 defeat away from home, the 1-0 home win wasn't enough to reach the play-offs. In the next three seasons he finished only seventh in the table with IFK, so that no further international appearances were made. Only after winning the Cup in 2012/13 IFK was able to qualify again for the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League , but failed on third in the Slovakian league FK AS Trenčín . In the two games, however, Johansson was used for the first time internationally over the full 180 minutes. In the 2013 season , he was able to qualify again for qualifying for the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League with IFK as runner-up . Here IFK prevailed in the first two qualifying rounds, but then lost the home game against Rio Ave FC with 0-1 in the third round and was eliminated after a 0-0 second leg. In the 2014 season he was runner-up again with IFK.

AEK Athens

For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Greek club AEK Athens , which was relegated to the second division for the first time in 2013 . Johansson was with AEK with 19 points ahead of the second division champion and rose to the first division . In his first first division season in Greece he was third with AEK and was thus qualified for the play-offs for international places. In these, AEK qualified for the third qualifying round of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League . Here the Greeks were eliminated after a goalless away game by a 0-1 home defeat against AS Saint-Étienne , with Johansson only playing at 0-0. In the following season , they qualified for the first time for the third qualifying round of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League . Here AEK lost both games against CSKA Moscow , but was allowed to continue playing in the play-offs of the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League and was able to qualify for the group stage.

National teams

Johansson played his first international junior match on July 31, 2006 and scored the goal of the interim 1-1 in the 2: 4 defeat against England. In September he took part with the U-17 team in the first qualifying round for the U-17 European Football Championship 2007 , in which the team qualified as second in the group for the elite round. In this, the team lost all three games in March 2007 with 1: 3, where he was only used twice and brought his team 1-0 lead against Spain.

After appearances in friendly matches in the U-18, U-19 and U-21, he took part with the U-19 team in June 2009 in the elite round of qualifying for the U-19 European Football Championship in 2009 . The Swedes lost the three games and were eliminated.

From May 2012 he was used in qualifying for the U-21 European Football Championship in 2013 . The Swedes finished the group stage as group winners, but then lost twice to Italy in the playoff games. The 2: 3 against the Italians on October 16, 2012 was his last international match.

He made his first appearance in the Swedish national team on January 23, 2013 in the semi-finals of the King's Cup 2013 against North Korea , where he was in the starting eleven and was substituted in the 84th against Ivo Pekalski , for whom this was also the first A- Was an international match. But then he had to wait a year for his second appearance in the A-Elf. On January 17, 2014 he came to the second international match in the friendly against Moldova in Bahrain . Only players who played for Swedish clubs and had played a maximum of five international A matches were used on the Swedish side. Four days later he led a similarly composed team in the 2-0 win against Iceland in Saudi Arabia as captain. Then he had to wait 34 months for his fourth international match: on November 11, 2016, he played over 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat against France in the fourth qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup. From then on he was a regular and was missing only in the two January games, in which only players from the Swedish league were used again. The Swedes reached the playoffs as runners-up and met Italy for the first leg in Solna on November 10th . Johansson was only brought on in the 57th minute, however, four minutes later he scored the 1-0 winning goal with his first international goal. Three days later he was in the starting line-up for the second leg in Milan , but had to be replaced after only 19 minutes, injured. His teammates defended the 0-0 and thus qualified for the World Cup finals in Russia .
