The defending champion was BATE Baryssau . The promoted teams were FK Luch Minsk, FK Smaljawitschy-STI and FC Torpedo Minsk. Before the start of the season, FK Krumkrachy Minsk was excluded from the league after there were repeated deadlines for the provision of the necessary license documents and payments of the players' salaries. The decision was made on March 19, 2018. The third place in the second division, FC Torpedo Minsk , received the vacant place .
