The Baryssau Arena ( Belarusian Барысаў-Арэна , Russian Борисов-Арена , English Borisov Arena ) is a football stadium in the Belarusian city of Baryssau . It is the home of FK BATE Baryssau , the country's most successful football club from the Vyshejschaya Liha . The modern venue offers 13,126 seats on its covered grandstands.
history
The wish of FK BATE for a new stadium had existed for a long time. The Haradski Stadium , the previous venue, opened in 1963 and only offers about 5,400 seats. The club's plans were boosted by reaching the group stage of the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League and the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League for the first time . Haradski Stadium did not meet UEFA requirements for international competition. The club had to move to the Dinamo stadium in the capital Minsk, around 70 kilometers away . In view of the fact that a renovation of the capital's stadium was due, there would not have been a suitable venue for the international games of FK BATE.
At the instigation of President Aljaksandr Lukashenka , a committee was formed in cooperation with the Belarusian football association BFF , which should work out the details for a new stadium by June 2010. In the meantime, the association made the decision on the architects responsible. The choice fell on the architectural office OFIS Arhitekti from the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, founded by Rok Oman and Špela Videčnik . Among other things, the company was responsible for the redesign of the Ljudski vrt stadium in Maribor from 2006 to 2008 . In the summer of 2010, the plans for the stadium were published.
The official start of construction took place on November 12, 2010 in the presence of Aljaksandr Lukashenka. The foundation stone was laid together with Wiktar Hantscharenka , the then coach of BATE and players as well as the architects . A first completion date was aimed for in summer 2012, the 910th anniversary of Baryssau. In March 2013 it was clear that the next appointment in summer 2013 could not be kept. Most of the steel frame construction and stands were in place, but the Baryssau Arena was only halfway through. One reason for the delays was the icy temperatures in the winter months. The date was postponed to November of that year.
But it should take another six months until the opening in May 2014. On May 1st, FK BATE came to the Baryssau-Arena for the first training session. The first official football match was the final in the Belarusian Cup on May 3, 2014. Before that, the facility was opened in a ceremony by President Lukashenka. In front of 11,000 spectators, FK Nyoman Hrodna lost to FK Schachzjor Salihorsk with 0: 1. BATE Baryssau had already failed in the quarter-finals against Njoman Hrodna and missed the final in the home arena. BATE's first game was played a week later on May 10, 2014. In the half-full stadium in front of 6,785 spectators, BATE Baryssau met FK Sluzk and won the league game with 3-0 goals. The arena celebrated its premiere in the UEFA Champions League on September 30, 2014 in front of 11,886 spectators in the game against the Spanish representative Athletic Bilbao .
The stadium location was a military training area in earlier times , is located southwest of the city and is surrounded by a pine forest area. The stadium meets the requirements of UEFA for matches in the Champions League and the Europa League and has been classified in stadium category 4 of the European Football Association. The eye-catcher of the futuristic arena is the steel-framed facade and the roof in a blob architecture design. The curved, smooth outer surface made of polished aluminum - shingles is in its symmetry interrupted by differently shaped holes. The roof structure arches over the grandstands and 13,126 seats await visitors in the auditorium below. These include the 119 seats in the ten VIP - boxes and 650 business seats. The floodlights are installed on four triangular beams in the corners of the stadium as well as on the roof edge. The plastic seats are mounted in rows in different colors on the tiers. The colors of the seating continued throughout the stadium.
The press stand has 144 seats, which can be expanded to 256 seats if necessary. The press conference room offers 90 seats with simultaneous interpretation . The room with up to 150 seats can be rented for conferences, seminars, presentations or training courses. The work area for journalists in the stadium has 114 seats. The entire stadium is free Wi-Fi - Internet access available. A fitness studio has been set up on more than 700 m 2 in the southern corner of the arena . The Baryssau Arena offers a children's play center with paid supervision. Air hockey tables, table hockey , arcade machines , play equipment, a maze - maze and a ball pit are available on over 500 m 2 .
The venue can be entered through four large entrances that lead to a circumferential promenade . The commercial space in the north, south and east corners of the first floor covers 3,000 m 2 . On the second floor of the promenade, among other things, the stalls for food and drinks are distributed. An LCD video display panel was installed under the stadium roof in a north-easterly and south-westerly direction . The natural playing field turf in the standard size 105 × 68 meters is underlaid with turf heating . There is also an irrigation and drainage system . In the east corner of the arena there is a bowling alley and a restaurant. The sound system comes from the US company Bose . The arena's video surveillance system has around 200 cameras. Seven parking spaces were created in a star shape around the sports facility . On days when there are no games , they can be used for inline skating , roller skating , skateboarding and karting . Inline skates, roller skates, skateboards and protective clothing can be rented in the stadium. A total of around 1,500 parking spaces are available around the Baryssau-Arena.
International matches
After the Dinamo stadium from Minsk because of the rebuild is not available and the Borisov Arena was completed, the games of are Belarusian national football team in Borisov held.
