OFIS Arhitekti is a Slovenian architecture firm based in Ljubljana . The company was founded in 1998 and has won various architecture prizes.

Background and awards

Rok Oman and Špela Videčnik founded the architectural office in 1998. Both are graduates of the University of Ljubljana and the London Architectural Association School of Architecture . In addition to their work as architects, they also teach at the Harvard Graduate School of Design .

The architecture office has received various awards for its work. On an international level, these include the IOC / IAKS Award in silver for the new Ljudski vrt building in Maribor and the European Grand Prix for Innovation Award given in 2006, as well as various Slovenian prizes. The company has also received multiple nominations, including the European Union Prize for contemporary architecture . They were also represented as Slovenian representatives at the Biennale di Venezia .

In addition to architecture, OFIS also carried out art installations and performances.

At the beginning of the architecture office, OFIS implemented several projects in Slovenia. Including the Ljubljanas City Museum. But cross-border projects were also quickly added, for example in Italy and Austria. In 2006 construction work began to renovate and enlarge the Ljudski vrt football stadium, which was completed in 2008. In 2007 OFIS opened a branch in France with a major project with 180 apartments. Later, the Baryssau-Arena planned by them was realized. In doing so, they designed two different stadiums in which the main phase of the UEFA Champions League was played.
