Ognjen Vranješ (born October 24, 1989 in Banja Luka , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian football player .

Career

society

He began his career as a teenager with FK Borac Banja Luka in his hometown. As a professional he played in 2009 for FK Roter Stern Belgrade . In 2010 he was loaned to the FK Napredak Kruševac club and to Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova. In 2011 he moved to the Russian club FK Krasnodar . From 2013 to 2014 he was under contract with Alania Wladikawkas .

In January 2014 Vranješ was given to the Turkish first division club Sanica Boru Elazığspor . At the end of the season he left this club again.

In the winter transfer period 2014/15 he returned to Turkey and joined the first division club Gaziantepspor . In spring 2016 he moved to Sporting Gijón . In the summer of 2016, Vranješ moved to the first Russian league Tom Tomsk .

At the turn of the year 2017 he moved from there to the Greek club AEK Athens and at the beginning of the 2018/19 season to the Belgian first division RSC Anderlecht with a contract for four years until summer 2022.

At the end of November 2018, Vranješ published a picture on his Instagram account, the subtitles of which suggested that he approved the violence by AEK Athens fans against Ajax Amsterdam supporters at the Champions League game in Athens. The RSC Anderlecht immediately announced the consequences that would not be limited to a fine. Vranješ took the Instagram account offline.

Just two days later, a tattoo was noticed on his right upper arm. It shows Momcilo Dujic , a Serbian leader from the time of the Second World War.

The RSC Anderlecht finally suggested Vranješ to look for a new club. His last championship game was on December 22, 2018. Since then, he has only been allowed to train with the reserve.

On June 21, 2019 a loan to the AEK Athens was confirmed for one year. While Athens finally wanted to sign the player after this loan, Vranješ decided to return to RSC Anderlecht.

National team

Ognjen Vranješ played eleven times for the Bosnian U-21 national team and scored two goals. He headed both goals in the game against the U-21s from Montenegro .

The first appointment to the Bosnian senior team came under Safet Sušić in the first two qualifying matches for the UEFA EURO 2012 against Luxembourg and France . He made his debut on November 17, 2010 in a friendly against Slovakia .
