Yari Verschaeren (born July 12, 2001 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian football player who plays as a midfielder for RSC Anderlecht .

Verschaeren comes from the RSC Anderlecht youth academy. He joined the club at the age of 9. In 2017 Verschaeren signed his first professional contract with Anderlecht. He made his debut for the professional team on November 25, 2018 against VV St. Truiden . He was substituted after 78 minutes in a 2: 4 away defeat. Just 4 days later he made his Europa League debut against Spartak Trnava . He came on in the 81st minute. On January 27th he scored his first goal for Anderlecht against KAS Eupen . In March 2019 he signed a new contract with Anderlecht, which is valid until 2022.

National team

Verschaeren played his first international match in a friendly match for the U-16 national team on March 29, 2017 against Luxembourg. He was part of the Belgian squad at the 2017 U-17 European Championship , where he also played in two group games. After playing in the next senior youth national team, he was also part of the squad at the U-21 European Championship in 2019 . There, too, he was on the pitch in two group games.

Verschaeren made his first appearance for the senior national team on September 9, 2019 in the qualifying match for the 2020 European Championship against Scotland. He scored his first goal for the national team on October 10, 2019 in another qualifying match against San Marino.
