Career
society
Mustapha Bundu, who was born in the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown , began his football training at the Craig Bellamy Foundation's youth academy . A student visa finally enabled him to move to England , where he attended Hartpury College in Hartpury , Gloucestershire and played in the local school team. In November 2015, he joined Hereford FC , who played in the ninth-rate Midland Football League . With 25 goals this season, he was a key factor in the Bulls' rise . Since he was not allowed to play for a higher class club for labor law reasons, he had to leave Hereford FC at the end of the season.
At the beginning of August 2016, he completed a ten-day trial training session at the Danish first division club Aarhus GF , which finally gave him a one-year contract on August 31, 2016. He made his debut in the Superligaen on October 23, 2016 (14th match day) in the 0-1 away defeat against Brøndby IF , when he came on for Martin Spelmann in the 78th minute . In December 2016, he extended his contract early until 2021. In the preliminary round of the 2016/17 season , he was only used sporadically. On April 2, 2017, the first day of the relegation round, he scored his first league goal in a 4-2 away win against Viborg FF . In the next few games he played regularly and ended the season with 12 league appearances in which he scored a goal.
In the next 2017/18 season he was already considered a regular. On November 18, 2017 (16th matchday) he scored a brace in a 3-1 home win against Silkeborg IF . In total, he scored two more goals and two assists in 31 league appearances. In the 2018/19 season he also played 31 league games, in which he again scored four goals and prepared eight more goals. His breakthrough came in the following 2019/20 season , in which he was able to collect many goal participations early on. On September 15, 2019 (10th matchday), he shot his team with a hat trick to the 3-0 home win against Aalborg BK . He achieved a similar feat two weeks later (11th matchday) in a 3-1 home win against FC Nordsjælland , in which he was able to prepare all three Hviie goals . Overall, he scored eight goals and 12 assists in 27 league appearances this season.
In August 2020, Bundu moved to the Belgian first division partner RSC Anderlecht, where he signed a contract with a term of four years.
National team
Mustapha Bundu received his first nomination in the provisional squad of the Sierra Leonean national team in August 2018. However, he did not make it into the final 23-man selection for the time being. In September 2019 he was finally included for the first time and in the 3-1 away defeat against Liberia in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup , he replaced Alimamy Bundu in the final phase .
