Francis Amuzu (born August 23, 1999 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian - Belgian soccer player who is under contract with the Belgian first division club RSC Anderlecht . He occupies the position of winger both in the club and in the Belgian U-21 national team .
Career
society
Born in Accra , Amuzu moved with his family to Belgium at an early age, where he played in the youth teams of SK Heffen , KV Mechelen and Lierse SK . In April 2015 he switched to the RSC Anderlecht youth academy and played the 2015/16 season in the U16 to the end. He signed his first professional contract there on August 23, 2015. As a result, he began to play in the U-19 team and was also used in the UEFA Youth League . On December 22nd, 2017, he made his first team league debut and scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 home win against KAS Eupen . In the 2017/18 season he was used in eleven league games. In the next 2018/19 season he played 30 league games, in which he started in most of them and was able to score one goal and prepare three goals. He was also used regularly in the 2019/20 season, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic , and played in 20 league games in which he scored three goals and three assists. In mid-July 2020, a contract extension to summer 2024 was agreed.
National team
From August 2017 to March 2018, Francis Amuzu played in seven games of the Belgian U-21 national team, in which he scored two goals.
On October 11, 2018, he made his debut in a 1-0 win in a friendly international match against Italy in the U21 and was able to score his first goal in this age group with the winning goal. In June he also took part in the 2019 European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino , where he played two group games.
