Adrien Trebel (born March 3, 1991 in Dreux ) is a French soccer player who has been under contract with the Belgian first division club RSC Anderlecht since January 2017 . The midfielder is a former U20 national player .

Career

society

Adrien Trebel comes from the youth of FC Nantes and made his debut for this on February 10, 2011 (23rd match day) against OC Vannes , when he came on for Ismaël Keita in the 72nd minute . He was then used in all 15 remaining league games of the 2010/11 season . In the following season 2011/12 he was already considered an important regular for the second division team . On October 14, 2011 (11th matchday), he scored the first time in men's football in a 3-1 home win against FC Istres . In total, he played in 34 league games this season, in which he collected one goal and four assists. In the following season 2012/13 he lost his regular place, but was still used in 31 league games and rose to the top French division with the Canaris . In Ligue 1, he was only used sporadically and was no longer worried at all from February 2014. He completed only 12 league games in this 2013/14 season , in which he remained without a goal participation.

On July 1, 2014, he moved to the Belgian Pro League club Standard Liège on a free transfer . At the Rouches he was able to establish himself immediately as a regular in the central midfield and made 31 league appearances in his first 2014/15 season , in which he scored two goals and made five assists. In the 2015/16 season he played 28 league games in which he scored and won the Belgian Cup with Liège . Trebel had already taken over the captain's armband in January 2016, which he also kept in the 2016/17 season .

After two and a half years in the Liège jersey, Trebel refused to participate in the training camp in January 2017 because his club had rejected a transfer offer from league rivals KAA Gent . His behavior attracted a lot of media attention in Belgium, as he was considered one of the best players at one of the largest clubs in the country at the time. Finally, on January 15, 2017, Trebel got the clearance for a transfer, but did not move to Ghent, but to the record champions RSC Anderlecht . For his new club he made his debut a week later (22nd matchday) in a 3-1 home win against VV St. Truiden when he came on for Alexandru Chipciu in the 84th minute . At Anderlecht he quickly won a regular place and won the Belgian championship with the club. Trebel played a total of 37 league games in the 2016/17 season, in which he scored two goals and prepared five more goals. In the game for the Belgian Supercup , he shot his team to a 2-1 win against SV Zulte-Waregem. On November 26, 2017 (16th matchday) he scored his first league goal for the Paars-wit in a 4-0 home win against KV Kortrijk . He played 33 league games in this 2017/18 season, scoring two goals and six assists. On August 29, 2018, Trebel extended his working paper until summer 2023. In the following season 2018/19 he took over the captain's armband, but missed a large part of the regular time due to injury problems. Therefore, he only played 25 league games, in which he collected seven efficient goal participations. Bad luck with injuries also haunted him in the 2019/20 season , in which he never got really fit and only made four league appearances.

National team

Trebel played ten missions in the French U-21 national team , in which he was able to score a goal.

Trivia

It was often reported in the specialist press that Adrien Trebel's mother was born in Madagascar and that he was therefore eligible to play for the Malagasy national team. After such reports surfaced again in April 2020, the newspaper La Dernière Heure exposed this claim as false information a short time later.
