Michel Vlap (born June 2, 1997 in Sneek ) is a Dutch football player who is currently under contract with the Belgian first division RSC Anderlecht . The midfielder is a former junior international.

Career

Michel Vlap is a product of the SC Heerenveen youth academy , where his father Jan works as a trainer. On February 17, 2015, he signed his first professional contract with the Superfriezen . He made his first-team debut on November 27, 2016, when he came on for Arber Zeneli in the 1-0 home defeat to Ajax Amsterdam in the closing stages of the game . This was his only appearance in the 2016/17 season , when he played mainly in the U-21 team. It was not until the next season 2017/18 that he was increasingly involved in the fighting team and scored his first goal in the Eredivisie against AZ Alkmaar on November 29, 2017 (matchday 10) . On December 3rd, Vlap signed a five-year contract with SC Heerenveen. At the end of the season he had scored four goals in 24 league games and prepared three more. His breakthrough came in the next 2018/19 season . In his team's 5-0 away win against BV De Graafschap on October 6, 2018, he scored a brace. On October 28, he repeated this in the 3-2 away win against AZ Alkmaar. His outstanding performance this month earned Vlap the Eredivisie Player of the Month award for October.

On July 4, 2019, he signed a five-year contract with the Belgian first division partner RSC Anderlecht . Already in his league game in the 1: 2 home defeat against KV Ostend , he scored a goal. He quickly established himself as an important regular at the traditional club. On May 7, 2020 (29th matchday), he scored a hat trick in a 7-0 home win against SV Zulte-Waregem . In the 2019/20 season , which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he scored ten goals and three assists in 23 league appearances.

National team

Michel Vlap has represented his home country in all age categories since the U18 . With the Dutch U-19 national team , he took part in the 2016 U-19 European Football Championship in Germany .
