Lengericher Osning

The Lengericher Osning nature reserve is located in the city of Lengerich in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of five sub-areas, extends northeast of the core town of Lengerich. The state road L 555 runs through the area. Not far to the north is the state border with Lower Saxony .

For Lengerich, a 170.1745 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number ST-086 since 1993 . The area was placed under protection for the preservation, promotion and development as well as the restoration of the biotopes of typical, rare and endangered animal and plant species in a large, structurally rich forest complex characterized by natural development and decay processes with natural spring stream system and limestone semi- arid grasslands .
