The nature reserve Halverder Aa-Niederung lies in the area of the municipality Hopsten in the district Steinfurt in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of two sub-areas, extends northeast of the core town of Hopsten and south directly adjacent to Shell , a district of the municipality of Hopsten. The state road L 593 runs east of the area ; the state border with Lower Saxony runs not far to the west, north and east. West, the 149.2 extends ha large nature reserve Wehrstroot and east of the 176.4-hectare nature reserve Halverder Moor .
meaning
Since 1988, a 138.58 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Hopsten under the identification number ST-003. The area was placed under protection for the preservation, development and restoration of communities and biotopes , in particular of plants and plant communities of open water and moist grassland as well as rare and z. Plant and animal species that are partly endangered typical of the landscape, including rare, partly endangered waders and meadow birds , amphibians and invertebrates .
