The Brechte nature reserve is located in the municipality of Wettringen in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of two partial areas, extends northwest of the core town of Wettringen and northeast of the core town of Ochtrup . The state road L 68 runs to the east and flows the Vechte . The A 31 runs west. The state border with Lower Saxony runs not far to the north.
