The nature reserve Am Janhaarspool is located in the area of ​​the cities of Ibbenbüren and Tecklenburg in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends south of Dörenthe , a district of Ibbenbüren, directly on the Dortmund-Ems Canal, which flows on the western edge . The B 219 runs to the west, the L 597 state road and the A 1 run south-east . To the west is the Saerbeck wetland nature reserve .
