The Bramegge nature reserve is located in the municipality of Westerkappeln in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends north of the core town of Westerkappeln. State road  584 runs to the east. Not far to the north is the Mittelland Canal and the state border with Lower Saxony .

For Westerkappeln, a 35.47 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number ST-112 since 2003  . It was placed under protection for the preservation, development and restoration of communities and biotopes of typical, rare and endangered animal and plant species in a forest complex, in particular for the preservation, promotion and development of old acidic oak forests on sandy plains with their typical fauna and flora in their various stages of development / Phases of age and in their typical local range of variation, including their pre-forests, bushes and herbaceous meadows as well as the forest edges.
