The Saltenwiese-Fernrodde nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Rheine in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of two sub-areas, extends east of the core city of Rheine. The state road L 501 runs north, the Dortmund-Ems Canal flows and the A 30 runs . To the northwest lies the Rheine-ash village , west stretches the 21.355 ha large nature reserve Zach Horn .
