The Saltenwiese-Fernrodde nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Rheine in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of two sub-areas, extends east of the core city of Rheine. The state road L 501 runs north, the Dortmund-Ems Canal flows and the A 30 runs . To the northwest lies the Rheine-ash village , west stretches the 21.355 ha large nature reserve Zach Horn .
meaning
An 8.15 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Rheine since 1990 under the identification number ST-075. The area was placed under protection for the preservation, promotion and restoration of communities or habitats , in particular of rare, sometimes highly endangered waders and meadow birds and the moist grassland .
