Arbër Avni Zeneli (born February 25, 1995 in Säter , Sweden ) is a Swedish- Kosovar football player who has been under contract with the French first division team Stade Reims since January 2019 . The midfielder has played through several of Sweden's junior national teams, but has been with the Kosovar senior team since August 2016 , of which he is currently the top scorer.

Zeneli started playing football at AIK Hälsinggårdens before joining IF Elfsborg's youth at the age of 12 . In December 2013 he was promoted to the first team of the first division club . He made his debut on March 1, 2014 in a 3-0 cup win against Östersunds FK . That tournament was later won. In the Allsvenskan he made his debut on March 31 in the 2-1 away defeat against Åtvidabergs FF . He scored his first league goal on the last day of the 2014 season in a 1-0 away win against IF Brommapojkarna . In the following season, 2015 , he made his breakthrough at Elfsborg. He was used in all 30 league games, in which he scored ten goals and he assisted eight more.

After the end of the season in Sweden, Arbër Zeneli moved to the Dutch honorary division SC Heerenveen on November 10, 2015 , where he signed a three and a half year contract. On January 16, 2016, he made his debut in a 5-2 home win over PEC Zwolle . A week later he met for the first time for his new club in the 3-1 home win against Willem II Tilburg . There he established himself as a regular player after a short time and scored 17 goals in 88 league appearances by January 2019 and prepared 24 more.

On January 26, 2019, he moved to the French first division team Stade Reims for a transfer fee of four million euros , where he signed a four and a half year contract. On February 2, he made his debut in a 2-1 home win against Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1. On February 25, he scored his first goal for Reims in a 4-2 away win against HSC Montpellier . At the end of the 2018/19 season , he had three goals and three assists in 15 games. In the national team, he tore a cruciate ligament in June 2019 and therefore missed almost the entire 2019/20 season , which is why he only made a brief appearance in the league.

National team

Zeneli represented his native Sweden for six years in various junior national teams. As part of the U21 squad, he became the U21 European champion in 2015 , although he didn't play a single role at the tournament.

Since his parents come from Mitrovica , Kosovo , Zeneli was also able to play for the Kosovar national team . On August 24, 2016, he decided to play for Kosovo in the future and rejected a call-up to the Swedish U-21 national team. On October 2, 2016, he was nominated for the squad of the Kosovar national team on the occasion of the qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup against Croatia and Ukraine . On October 6, he made his debut in the 6-0 home loss to Croatia.

His first two goals for the national team came on May 29, 2018 in a 3-0 friendly win against Albania . He scored a three-pack in a 4-0 home win in the UEFA Nations League against Azerbaijan on November 22nd . At the moment he is the record scorer for the Kosovar national team with seven goals.
