The shot put women at the 1962 European Athletics Championships was on 12 September 1962 at Belgrade's Partizan Stadium discharged.

In this competition, the Soviet shot putters won two medals, gold and bronze. The European champion was the Olympic champion from 1960 , the EM third from 1958 , the discus thrower from 1958 and the world record holder Tamara Press . Second place went to the GDR athlete Renate Garisch-Culmberger . Bronze went to the Olympic champion from 1952 and European champion from 1954 Galina Sybina .

Record improvement
