The women's discus throw at the European Athletics Championships in 1962 was held on September 15, 1962 in Belgrade's Partizan Stadium .

The European champion was the defending champion, Olympic runner-up in 1960 and world record holder Tamara Press , who won her second gold at these European championships after the shot put . She won ahead of the GDR thrower Doris Müller . Bronze went to the Hungarian Jolán Kontsek .
