Kriemhild Limberg

Kriemhild Limberg (born Hausmann; born September 8, 1934 in Rheinhausen , near Duisburg ) is a former German athlete who won the bronze medal in the discus throw at the European Championships in 1958 .

In 1955 and 1956 Kriemhild Hausmann took second place behind Anne-Chatrine Lafrenz at the German Championships . After finishing fifth in 1957, Hausmann won her first German championship title in 1958, and seven more should follow by 1965. At the European Championships in Stockholm in 1958, she threw the discus on 50.99 m, taking third place behind Tamara Press from the Soviet Union and Štěpánka Mertová from Czechoslovakia. Two years later, Kriemhild Hausmann reached fourth place at the Olympic Games in Rome with 51.47 m behind Nina Ponomarjowa and Tamara Press from the Soviet Union and the Romanian Lia Manoliu . At the European Championships in 1962 and at the Olympic Games in 1964 , she just missed the last three attempts in seventh place. In 1966 she finished eleventh again at the European Championships .

In 1958 it improved the German record three times. With her throw of 53.89 m on July 27, she replaced Doris Müller as the all-German record holder. In June 1959 Irene Schuch brought the record back to the GDR. On August 16, 1959, Hausmann threw the discus in Meerbeck at 55.70 m. This litter stood as an all-German record until Doris Müller threw 56.39 m in June 1962. Kriemhild Limberg surpassed the German record again in August 1964 when she threw the discus on 55.86 m in the Olympic elimination for the all-German team . In July 1966, Liesel Westermann took the German record from her.

Kriemhild Limberg is 1.82 m tall and weighed 76 kg during her active time. She started at OSC Rheinhausen and then belonged to the sports club KTSV Preussen Krefeld . On September 13, 1963, she married the former handball player Willi Limberg.
