The men's discus throw at the 1962 European Athletics Championships was held on September 12 and 13, 1962 in Belgrade's Partizan Stadium .
European champion was the Soviet EM third from 1958 Vladimir Trussenjow . He won ahead of the Dutchman Cees Koch. Bronze went to the GDR thrower Lothar Milde .

The 27 participants took part in a joint qualifying round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 53.00 m. Since only ten athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue), the final field was filled with the next best placed athletes to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 52.77 m was enough for the final.
