The men's discus throw at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on August 30 and 31, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .

In this competition, all three medals went to the throwers from the GDR. Detlef Thorith became European champion . Hartmut Losch won silver . The 1964 Olympic third party Lothar Milde also won the bronze medal here.
