Georgios Tsakanikas

Georgios Tsakanikas ( Greek Γεώργιος Τσακανίκας ; born November 10, 1934 in Paleo Faliro ; † March 1, 2016 in Athens ) was a Greek shot putter and discus thrower .

In 1955, he won silver in the shot put at the Mediterranean Games . At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he came in eighth and at the European Athletics Championships in 1958 in Stockholm on 16th place.

1959 followed a bronze medal in the shot put at the Universiade, gold in the shot put and bronze in the discus throw at the Mediterranean Games. In the shot put of the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he was eliminated from qualification.

In 1962 he failed in the discus throw at the EM in Belgrade in the preliminary round. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he finished 13th in the shot put and was eliminated in the qualifying discus throw . In 1966 he did not get past the first round at the European Championships in Budapest .
