The men's long jump at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on August 30 and 31, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .
European champion was the British Olympic champion in 1964 Lynn Davies . He won ahead of the defending champion, European record holder and two-time Olympic third party from 1960 and 1964, Igor Ter-Owanessjan from the USSR. Bronze went to the French Jean Cochard.
