The men's 400-meter run at the 1966 European Athletics Championships was held from August 30 to September 1, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .

In this competition there was a double victory for Poland. Stanisław Grędziński became European champion . He won ahead of Andrzej Badeński . Bronze went to the German runner Manfred Kinder .
