Jacques Pennewaert
Jacques Pennewaert (born March 11, 1940 in Brussels ; † July 2016 ) was a Belgian sprinter and middle-distance runner .
Over 400 m he won silver at the Universiade in 1961 and reached the semi- finals at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade in 1962 . A bronze medal followed at the 1963 Universiade.
At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he finished eighth over 800 m and was eliminated over 400 m in the preliminary run.
In 1966 he failed at the European Championships in Budapest over 400 m and 800 m in the first round. Also at the Olympic Games in 1968 he did not get past the lead over 400 m as well as 800 m .
Three times he was Belgian champion over 400 m (1963, 1964, 1968) and once each over 200 m (1963) and 800 m (1964).
