Sergio Bello

Sergio Bello (born May 6, 1942 in Intra ) is a former Italian sprinter and hurdler .

In 1962 he reached the semifinals at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade over 400 m .

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was eliminated over 400 m in the quarter-finals and in the 4-by-400-meter relay in the preliminary run.

The following year he won the 400 m at the Universiade in 1965 . In 1966 he won silver in the 1600 meter relay at the European Indoor Games in Dortmund . At the European Championships in Budapest he was sixth in the 4 x 400 meter relay and was eliminated over 400 meters in the semifinals.

In 1967 he won bronze over 400 m at the Universiade and won the Mediterranean Games .

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 he was seventh in the 4 x 400 meter relay and reached the quarter-finals over 400 m .

In 1969 he was eighth in the 400 m and fifth in the 400 m at the European Championships in Athens . With the Italian 4 x 400 meter relay, he won bronze at the EM in 1971 in Helsinki and was eliminated from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

He was five times Italian champion over 400 m (1965-1969) and once over 400 m hurdles (1970).
