The men's 20 km walk at the 1966 European Athletics Championships was held on August 30, 1966 in the streets of Budapest .

In this discipline there were two medals for the Soviet walkers, silver and bronze. European champion was the 1964 Olympic runner-up Dieter Lindner from the GDR. He won before the Olympic champion from 1960 , Olympic third from 1964 and EM third from 1962 Volodymyr Holubnytschyj . Bronze went to Mykola Smaha .
