The 100-meter run for women at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on August 30 and 31, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .
In this competition there was a double victory for the sprinters from Poland. Ewa Kłobukowska became European champion . She won in front of the co-owner of the world record Irena Kirszenstein , later Irena Szewińska and here European champion over 200 meters , in the long jump and with the 4 x 100 meter relay . Bronze went to the German Karin Frisch .

European champion Ewa Kłobukowska equalized the existing championship record of 11.4 s twice:
- 2nd advance on August 30th
- 1st semifinals on August 31st

European champion Ewa Kłobukowska - at these European championships also runner-up over 200 meters and winner of the 4 x 100 meter relay
Vice European champion Irena Kirszenstein, later Irena Szewińska, achieved her first major successes here with victories over 200 meters, in the long jump and with the sprint relay. In the years to come, she became a multiple Olympic champion over 200 and 400 meters as well as with the 4 x 100 meter relay.
