Daphne Arden

Daphne Arden (married Slater ; born December 29, 1941 in Birkenhead ) is a former British sprinter .

At the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade in 1962 , she was fourth over 100 m and 200 m and won bronze with the British team in the 4 x 100 meter relay . In the same year she was fifth over 100 yards at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth and won silver in the 4-by-110-yard relay with the English relay.

In 1964 she reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo over 100 m and was eighth over 200 m. In the 4 x 100 meter relay, she won the bronze medal with the British quartet in the cast Janet Simpson , Mary Rand , Arden and Dorothy Hyman .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 , she was eighth over 100 yards and again won silver with the English team in the 4-by-110-yard relay.

In 1964 and 1966 she was English champion over 100 yards, in 1964 also over 220 yards. In the hall she won the national title over 60 yards four times (1962–1964, 1966).

Daphne Arden started for the Birchfield Harriers and was trained by Bill Marlow.
