The women's 100-meter run at the 2016 European Athletics Championships was held on July 6th and 7th, 2016 in the Olympic Stadium in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam .
European champion was the Dutch Vice World Champion in 2015 , reigning world champion over 200 meters and WM -Third in heptathlon of 2013 Dafne Schippers , which her title of 2014 very confidently defended. Second place occupied as the day before about 200 meters , the Bulgarian European champion of 2012 Ivet Lalova . Bronze went to Mujinga Kambundji from Switzerland .

doping
There was a doping case in this competition.
A doping test of the Ukrainian Olesja Powch , who was eliminated in the semifinals, on June 15, 2016 showed a testosterone concentration that was significantly too high . She received a four-year ban from June 15, 2016 to June 14, 2020, and all of her results since the positive doping test have been canceled.
The main victim was the Spaniard Estela García , who had to watch the semi-finals, although she had actually qualified for this round over her time.
execution
For this discipline, a new competition mode was used for the first time. The nine strongest athletes on the European annual best list did not have to compete in the preliminary round, but only entered in the semi-finals.

The preliminary round was carried out in three runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the three fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals.
