The women's 5000-meter run at the 2016 European Athletics Championships was held on July 9, 2016 in the Olympic Stadium in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam .

European champion was the Turkish woman Yasemin Can that after their victory over 10,000 meters was now double European champion. She won ahead of the Swedish defending champion Meraf Bahta . Bronze went to the Briton Stephanie Twell .
