In 2014 Kristiina Mäki qualified for the first time for a major international event, the European Championships in Zurich , where she finished 13th in the 5000 meter run in 15: 57.13 minutes. In 2015 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Prague , where she finished tenth over 3000 meters in 9: 05.95 minutes. In addition, she celebrated her greatest success to date by winning the gold medal over 5000 meters at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea, in 16: 03.29 min. The following year, she took part in the 1500 meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Portland , but retired there with a new best of 4: 11.28 minutes in the lead. At the European Championships in Amsterdam , she finished ninth over 5000 meters in 15: 52.90 minutes. In 2017 she again took part in the Student World Games in Taipei , where she won the bronze medal over 1500 meters in 4: 20.65 minutes behind Serbian Amela Terzić and Docus Ajok from Uganda. In addition, he took sixth place over 5000 meters in 15: 59.87 minutes. The following year she was eliminated from the European Championships in Berlin over 1500 meters with 4: 10.35 min in the first round, as well as at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 2019 with 4: 17.19 min. She also qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 4: 17.65 minutes .
In 2014, 2017 and 2019 Mäki became Czech champion in the 1500 meter run. In 2013 she secured the title over 5000 meters and in 2019 also over 800 meters. In the hall she was champion in the 1500 meters from 2013 to 2015 and also in the 3000 meter run in 2013 and 2019.
