The men's 1500 meter run at the 2016 European Athletics Championships was held on July 7th and 9th, 2016 in the Olympic Stadium in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam .

In this competition, a pair of Norwegian brothers won two gold and bronze medals. Filip Ingebrigtsen became European champion . He won ahead of the Spaniard David Bustos . Bronze went to the European Champion of 2012 and Vice-European Champion of 2014 Henrik Ingebrigtsen .

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was carried out in three runs. The first three athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the three fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals. In addition, the Italian Joao Bussotti Neves was admitted to the final from the third preliminary run after the jury's decision.
