The 1,500-meter race of the men at the 2014 European Athletics Championships was on 15 and 17 August 2014 in the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

European champion who was Frenchman Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad , who previously worked as European champion in 2012 , Olympic silver medalist from 2012 and two-time World Cup -Dritter ( 2011 / 2013 many) successes over 3000-meter steeplechase had won. He won ahead of the Norwegian defending champion Henrik Ingebrigtsen . Bronze went to the Briton Chris O'Hare .

The existing EM record was not set at these European championships and was not improved. The heats were faster than the finale, which was purely a track race.

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was held in two runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the final. In addition, the two runners, Soufiane El Kabbouri and David Bustos, who were placed fourteen and fifteen, were admitted to the final after they had been hindered by Andreas Vojta and thus missed a better place.
