Manuel Olmedo ( Manuel Olmedo Villar ; born May 17, 1983 in Seville ) is a Spanish middle-distance runner .

Life

Initially, he specialized in the 800-meter course , on which he became Spanish champion in 2002 and 2007 indoors and outdoors in 2007 and 2008.

At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was eliminated in the preliminary stages. At the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he reached the semi-finals.

In 2009 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Turin .

The following year he switched to the 1,500 meter run . Over this distance he became Spanish champion and won bronze at the European Championships in Barcelona , only 0.02 seconds behind the silver medalist Carsten Schlangen .

Manuel Olmedo is 1.79 m tall and weighs 60 kg. He is trained by Enrique Pascual and starts for FC Barcelona .
