Peter Wirz

Peter Wirz (born July 29, 1960 ) is a former Swiss middle -distance runner who specialized in the 1500 meter distance .

Life

In 1983 he was fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Budapest , retired from the World Championships in Helsinki in the preliminary stages and won the Course de l'Escalade . The following year he won gold at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and finished sixth at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles .

In 1986 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid , came 116th at the World Cross Country Championships in Colombier and was tenth at the European Championships in Stuttgart .

After another preliminary round at the World Championships in Rome in 1987 , he reached the semi-finals at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

In 1983 and 1984 he was Swiss champion over 800 meters , in 1986 over 1500 meters. In the hall he won the title over 800 meters twice (1985, 1986) and four times over 1500 meters (1982-1984, 1989).

Today, Peter Wirz works as a product designer and designed, among other things, the standardized mailbox for Swiss Post .
