Antti Loikkanen

Antti Loikkanen ( Antti Olavi Loikkanen ; born April 15, 1955 in Enonkoski ) is a former Finnish middle and long distance runner .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was eliminated over 1500 m in the run.

In 1978 he won the same distance at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Milan and was fifth at the European Athletics Championships in Prague . Also over 1500 m he came fourth at the European Indoor Championships in 1979 in Vienna, reached the semi-finals at the 1980 Olympic Games and won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in 1982 in Milan and 1983 in Budapest .

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he did not come over 1500 m beyond the preliminary round. In 1984, a fourth place over 1500 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg was followed by a double start at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles : he reached the semi-finals over 5000 m , over 1500 he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

In 1985 he was sixth over 1500 m at the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus .

In 1979 he became Finnish champion over 800 m , 1980 over 1500 m. In the hall he won the national title over 800 m in 1981 and in 1978 and 1985 over 1500 m.
