Rui Silva
Rui Silva (born August 3, 1977 in Santarém ) is a Portuguese medium and long-distance runner .
At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 he won his first international medal (silver on his special 1500 meter course ), but at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he failed in the run-up. In 2001 he won the title at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and was seventh at the World Championships in Edmonton , and in 2002 he won bronze at the European Championships in Munich . At the World Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis , he finished fifth.
At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , he was also bronze, behind Hicham El Guerrouj (MAR) and Bernard Lagat (KEN). There was also a bronze medal for him at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki .
