Marcus O'Sullivan

Marcus O'Sullivan ( Marcus Christopher O'Sullivan ; born December 22, 1961 in Cork ) is a former Irish middle-distance runner .

Life

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he came over 800 meters into the quarter-finals and over 1500 meters into the semi-finals.

In 1985 he won silver at the European Indoor Championships , and in 1986 he was sixth over 1500 meters at the European Championships in Stuttgart . Over the same distance he won gold the following year at the World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis and reached the semifinals at the World Championships in Rome . In 1988 he finished eighth over 1500 meters at the Olympic Games in Seoul , and in 1989 he defended his title at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest .

After he was eliminated at the European Championships in 1990 in Split over 5000 meters in the heat, he returned to the 1500-meter distance and was fourth at the 1991 World Indoor Championships in Seville . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he reached the semi-finals, and at the World Indoor Championships in Toronto in 1993 he won his third title over this distance.

In 1996 in Atlanta he took part in the Olympic Games for the fourth time, but was eliminated over 1500 meters in the run.

In 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1992 he was national champion over 800 meters, in 1984 over 1500 meters. Along with John Walker and Steve Scott, he is one of three athletes who stayed under four minutes more than 100 times in the mile run .

Marcus O'Sullivan is 1.76 m tall and weighed 61 kg during his playing days. He is a graduate of Villanova University , for which he currently works as a trainer.
