The 400-meter hurdles of the men at the 2014 European Athletics Championships was from 12 to 15 August, 2014 at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

The Swiss Kariem Hussein became European champion . The Estonian Rasmus Mägi won the silver medal. Bronze went to the Russian Denis Kudrjawzew .

The EM record, which has existed since 1982 , was also unmatched at these European championships.

The clear fastest time of 48.54 s was achieved in the third semifinal race by the later European runner-up Rasmus Mägi from Estonia . In this run, two new national records and one U23 national record were set.

doping

In this competition there was a doping-related disqualification:

The Moldovan Alexei Crawcenco , who was eliminated in the preliminary run , tested positive and was disqualified. It was the first doping case discovered at these European Championships.

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was carried out in five runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semifinals.
