Comment on the European record: Salvatore Morale is named
in some sources as the European record holder with 49.7 s, achieved in a race over 440  yards on October 15, 1961 in Rome . This time is, however, a value for the 400-meter distance that has been downscaled from his winning time of 50.1 s. Thus this achievement was not recognizable. ItalyItaly
