The men's 400-meter hurdles at the European Athletics Championships in 1954 was held on August 26, 28 and 29, 1954 in the Neufeld stadium in Bern .

There was a double victory for the Soviet Union in this discipline. Anatoly Julin was European champion ahead of world record holder Yuri Litujew . The Finn Sven-Oswald Mildh won the bronze medal.
