The men's 3000 meter obstacle course at the European Athletics Championships in 1954 was held on August 26th and 28th, 1954 in the Neufeld Stadium in Bern .
European champion was the Hungarian Sándor Rozsnyói , who set a new world record in the final . The Finn Olavi Rinteenpää won the silver medal. Bronze went to the Norwegian Ernst Larsen .

Comment on the records:
World records were made over 3000 meters obstacle with the exception of championship records only after 1953 because of the not yet standardized obstacle setups. Sándor Rozsnyói's performance at these European championships was slower than the previous world record of Vice European Champion Olavi Rinteenpää, but it was recognized as the first official world and thus also European record.
