The men's 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1954 European Athletics Championships was held on August 28 and 29, 1954 in the Neufeld stadium in Bern .

France became European champions with the line-up of Pierre Haarhoff , Jacques Degats , Jean-Paul Martin du Gard and Jean-Pierre Goudeau . The Federal Republic of Germany came in second with Hans Geister , Helmut Dreher , Heinz Ulzheimer and Karl-Friedrich Haas . Finland ( Ragnar Graeffe , Sven-Oswald Mildh , Rolf Back , Voitto Hellsten ) won the bronze medal.
